German Torres Jimenez

German Torres Jimenez (Born 1980 alias El Tatanka) is a Mexican drug lord of the criminal group known as The Los Zetas Organization. He was a regional leader of The Los Zetas in the Coahuila state of Mexico.


Not much is known about German Torres' early life. he joined the mexican army in his late teens. In 1998 he deserted the army along with his comrades Arturo Guzmán Decena (Z1) and Heriberto Lazcano Lazcano (Z3). In the early 2000's he became a high ranking drug lord in the Los Zetas earning him the codename Z-25, he was in charge of training members of the Zetas in kidnapping operations and transporting drugs. El Tatanka carried out “high impact” kidnappings for Los Zetas while keeping a low profile, which allowed him to hide his identity.

On December 10th 2008 Jimenez kidnapped an ex-FBI agent and an expert on kidnapping Felix Batista on the orders of the Los Zetas leadership. Batista was kidnapped from a restaurant located in the northern state of Coahuila when he was on his way to attend a meeting with Mexican businessmen to give a lecture on kidnapping prevention, His body has never been found.


On the 25th April 2009 at 11am German Torres Jimenez El Tatanka was captured by the Mexican Federal Police in the town of Poza Rica in Veracruz, Mexico. The capture of Torres Jimenez came after a series of field research work and intelligence that allowed to locate in a building of fractionation Las Gaviotas, located in Laureles neighborhood, in that population Veracruz. Arrested along with Torres Jimenez were Angel Manuel de la Rosa, alias “El Camello” (Camel), Jose de Jesus Perez Mendez, alias “El Flaco” (Skinny), Rosario Rosado Camacho and Maria Victoria Hernandez Jimenez.
